Position: Project Manager
Location: Tamale
Reports to: Programme Director
​
Job Summary: The position is a full-time job. The position holder will manage all aspects of project planning and quality implementation, including providing technical expertise, project finance and budget compliance, supervising staff tasks and performance, coordinating with partners, monitoring, evaluating and reporting, building staff and partner capacity as required. S/he is also expected to work closely with the SfL Director and represent the organization in external meetings and workshops related to the project.
Key Responsibilities:

Project Management:
-
Provide technical support and supervision on efficient and effective implementation of assigned projects as per workplans, M&E plans, budgets, timeline and contractual obligations;

Manage project team to ensure delivery of agreed deliverables, plans and strategies as per SfL policies, procedures and standards
-
Ensure project activities are on track, managing risks and escalating issues, including developing and implementing solutions as necessary
-
Support the Programme Director in relevant tasks of program management, including resource allocation and ensuring appropriate controls are maintained at all levels
-
Oversee timely submission of program reports, meeting institutional and donor requirements, sharing challenges and successes
-

Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL)
-
Work closely with the MEL Specialist to design relevant technical monitoring and implementing materials to ensure quality project implementation.

Conduct regular project monitoring, evaluation, documenting and clear reporting on progress of project implementation against indicators and targets and determine corrective measures to improve project delivery
-
Review and support elaboration of project documents and reports

Personnel Management:
-
Conduct capacity building and/or mentoring activities for project staff and/or NGO partners as required
-
Facilitate team building and cohesive working amongst team members and provide feedback to project team to ensure optimal performance
-
Responsible for carrying out annual staff assessments of the Field Officers.

Frequent travel to project operational districts to attend project sites and provide support to team as needs
-

Networking and Stakeholder Engagement:

Represent School for Life in coordination meetings, working groups and external relationships

Contact and network with relevant agencies and development partners at district and national level
-
Responsible for capacity building of local stakeholders within the districts with the support of the support of SfL management and Technical Advisors

Financial Management:
-
Manage project budgets and spending in accordance with Value for Money, adherence with donor and SfL procedures and policies working with Finance and operations team

Maintain project transparency and accountability within project team and with donors

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
-
A Master’s degree in education, development studies, social science, or other relevant qualification from a recognized university.
-
At least 5 years proven project management experience with CSOs/NGOs especially managing education projects
-
Candidates with experience implementing the CBE programme has an added advantage
-
Ability to work flexibly, troubleshoot, manage risks and adapt to changing organisational environment
-
Ability to build positive relationships with others both internally and externally
-
High organisational skills including an attention to detail
-
Ability to think strategically about the development of a project, make links across the organisation and make the most of emergent opportunities

Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) using clear, non technical language

Position: Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Specialist
Location: Tamale

Job Summary:
The position is a full-time position based in Tamale. The position holder shall serve as a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning specialist. He/she shall lead the project monitoring and evaluation systems. This includes Working with SfL Programme officers and Management to ensure the collection of relevant and appropriate data needed for an effective MEAL system which will be utilized in monitoring strengths, weaknesses and gaps in project and for reporting on donor commitments.

Key Responsibilities:
-
Maintain and implement a robust monitoring and evaluation system for the Project that will ensure tracking of project results at different levels (outputs, outcomes and impact)
-
Develop a database of the project and ensure accountability through regular data updates, data integrity and working in collaboration with the data processors
-
Work with SfL Programme officers and Management to ensure the collection of relevant and appropriate data needed for an effective MEAL system which will be utilized in monitoring strengths, weaknesses and gaps in project and for reporting on donor commitments.

Develop data collection tools
-
Incorporate field and technical team feedback to ensure the continuous improvement of data management systems of the project
-
Timely update and share project data appropriately
-
Ensure workplans and performance management plans (PMPs) are developed and updated regularly reviewing and updating same as needed;
-
Carry out data quality assessments regularly for MEAL data based on agreed indicators to guide decision making
-
Provide alert to the respective project officers on corrective actions required to avoid delays in implementation, including flagging operational issues and risks requiring timely actions

Review monthly progress reports from donors
-
Participate in the Collation / preparation of reports
-
Ensure that cross cutting issues such as participation, Safeguarding, gender, age and disability are effectively addressed/mainstreamed in the project implementations as part of ensuring accountability
-
Assist in the development of TOR for external surveys and consultant recruitments/ selection for the project
-
Coordinate the review of project survey reports prepared to ensure quality and accurate reporting.

Conduct project monitoring on laid down standards on a regular basis

Keep abreast of new approaches and tools on M&E, and provide training to project staff as required
-
Regularly collect data and analyse the Complaints Reporting and Feedback Mechanism (CRFM) accountability to facilitate quality improvement

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Master degree in Development Studies, Econometrics, Statistics, Social Sciences or other relevant qualifications from a recognized university
-
At least 5 years proven experience work with NGOs on interventions aimed at improving learning gains in basic schools
-
Knowledge and experience working on CBE or similar programmes is an added advantage
-
Good written and verbal communication skills, to absorb complex information and present it to different audiences in a clear and accessible way
-
Interpersonal skills, to work and build relationships with a range of people with diverse views
-
Effective research and analytical skills (including quantitative and qualitative), needed to demonstrate impact of project interventions

Reports to: Project Manager

Job Summary:
This position is a full-time field-based position. The position holder shall be based in a designated district in the Northern or Oti regions. Th position holder shall be responsible for the direct supervision and support for Field Supervisors. He/she shall be responsible for the day-to-day implementation of project activities in the designated districts and project communities.
He/she shall also be responsible for coordinating program activities in the designated region and districts including stakeholder engagements at the regional, district and community levels. He/she shall also play a key role in monitoring, evaluation and reporting of programme implementation and progress. He/She shall be the point person for School for life in the designated region and districts.
Key Responsibilities:

Coordinating activities of School for Life Operations in the Region and designated districts

Supervise and provide support including coaching and mentoring to field supervisors assigned to him or her.

Responsible for communities’ involvement and the implementation of SfL activities in the designated districts.

Responsible for the MER tasks within the designated districts

Coordinate and collaborate with the district and local authorities and other relevant stakeholders in the district in the implementation of project activities

Qualification, Skills and Experience:

At least 5 years’ post qualification experience in the NGO or CSO sector with focus on education interventions in Ghana especially in CBE or Literacy and Numeracy improvement programs in mainstream schools

Position: Field Supervisor (Multiple)
Location: Multiple (Regions: Northern and Oti Regions; Districts: Kumbungu, Nanton, Tolon, Savelugu, Nkwanta North, Nkwanta South, Krachi, Nchumuru, Krachi East, Biakoye, Krachi West)
Reports to: District Coordinator
Job Summary:
This position is a full-time field-based position. The position holder shall be based in a designated district in the Northern or Oti regions. He/she shall assist the District Coordinator in the day-to-day implementation of project activities in the designated districts and project communities including community animation, stakeholder engagements. He/She shall be responsible for the implementation of either CBE or Mainstream School(MSIP) activities. They shall be responsible for the monitoring of CBE classes or mainstream schools classes providing support facilitators and teachers. He/She shall work closely with the Field Coordinator for community engagements and animations.
Key Responsibilities:

Participate in community entry and mobilization, recruitment of Facilitators, local committee members and registration of learners in the communities, Facilitators’ training and Learners’ graduation

Supervise and motivate facilitators or teachers in the designated districts
-
Responsible to the Field Coordinator, who can delegate duties related to implementation of internal monitoring of the programme to the Supervisor
-
Assist the Community local committees in identification of facilitators in the district and participate in their training.

Regular monitoring of CBE classes and provision of mentoring and coaching support to CBE class facilitators and Local Committees or MSIP teachers.

Assist the facilitators in data collection at community level including the tracer studies

Participate in the training of CBE facilitatirs or beneficiary teachers of MSIP

Participate in sensitization of local committees, traditional and opinion leaders

Submit monthly and situational reports from beneficiary communities to the Field Coordinator and assist the coordinator in the report writing

Implement the strategy for the recruitment of female facilitators

Establish good working relationship between the Local committees and PTA/SMC’s and School Heads

Position: Field Driver
Location: Tamale (with frequent tavels to the Oti Region)
Reports to: Finance and Administration Manager
Key Responsibility:

Safely transport project and organization staff, guests, as well as various products and materials to and from specified locations in a timely manner

Pick up guests from the airport/station to their hotels and back to airport for departures
-
Assisting with the loading and offloading of staff luggage, products, and materials
-
Maintain vehicles log books; keep mileage records and repair records up-to-date
-
Make request for timely servicing of vehicles and arrange for vehicle repairs as needed

Keep the orgnisation’s vehicle clean and properly maintained by performing regular washing, cleaning and vehicle maintenance

Run official errands and other task assigned by the Programme Director or the Finance and Administration Manager
Qualification/Skills and Experience:

High school diploma (WASSCE, SSCE, O’Level)

At least 3 years’ experience working in the NGO sector or any established institution as a driver

Valid driver’s license

Clean driving record

Sound knowledge of road safety regulations
